The Legend of the Origin of Boiano

In ancient times, the people of a region where the sun sets sinned against God and were struck by punishment during the sacred spring." God spoke through his priests: “The Lord’s wrath falls upon the fathers through their children. All the young men who are now turning 18 will leave the city; they will not look back to see it and will forget the way back. A sacred ox, destined for sacrifice, will guide the exiles; and wherever the ox stops, whether mountain or plain, the exiles will settle.” The fathers bowed their heads to the Lord’s will; the mothers stifled their sobs, and the children obeyed.
