Sono numerose le pratiche diffuse sull'insegnamento all'ascolto
Queste includono:

Uso di molto materiale registrato.
Preparazione degli utenti all'ascolto impostando la scena, introducendo i personaggi, il lessico, ecc.
Prima che gli utenti ascoltino, bisogna indirizzarli ad una comprensione generale del brano.
Occorre controllare le risposte a questa attività, riproducendo di nuovo la registrazione se necessario.
Sarebbe bene impostare un'ulteriore attività, che indirizzi gli studenti ad una comprensione più dettagliata.
Usare il tapescript (se ce n'è uno!) solo come ultima risorsa.
Rendere la registrazione e le attività il più "autentiche" possibile.

Ci sono sicuramente molte buone ragioni per usare le registrazioni. È un modo per portare voci diverse all’ascolto: maschili e femminili, età diverse, accenti diversi, qualità vocali diverse e così via.
L’approccio all’ascolto dovrebbe cercare di fornire agli utenti la flessibilità necessaria per affrontare un'ampia gamma di accenti.
Sarebbe probabilmente più utile e più realistico fare più uso delle registrazioni video piuttosto che di quelle puramente audio, dal momento che di solito possiamo vedere le persone che stiamo ascoltando, sia che stiamo ascoltandoli 'dal vivo' o al cinema o in televisione. La componente visiva fornisce una ricchezza di informazioni sull'ambientazione, i personaggi e il rapporto tra di loro.,
Quindi, in conclusione, darei i seguenti consigli:

Dedica molto tempo al lavoro di ascolto. Ed è doppiamente importante perché mette in pratica le capacità di ascolto e fornisce materiale grezzo per l'input linguistico.
Fare ampio uso dell'ascolto "dal vivo", con velocità, pronuncia e pronuncia naturali, ma adattato agli interessi degli utenti in termini di contenuto e graduato in una certa misura in termini di complessità linguistica.
Introduci gradualmente del materiale registrato. Che il materiale sia effettivamente "autentico" è probabilmente meno importante che sia interessante e accessibile agli utenti. Usare il video dove possibile e appropriato.
Dare loro pratica nell'ascoltare per scopi diversi: a volte per la comprensione, a volte per l'input linguistico, a volte per lo studio della pronuncia – cioè scopi importanti sia per i loro interessi come studenti di inglese sia per le loro esigenze come potenziali utenti dell'inglese.

Audiolibri
Gli audiolibri sono ottime risorse per far pratica di ascolto. Potrete trovarne parecchi su Audible, che vi permetterà di mandare avanti e indietro l’audio o di metterlo in pausa. Inoltre, dato che Audible è proprietà di Amazon, potrete comprare sia il libro stampato che l’audiolibro per far pratica anche nella lettura. Potreste anche scaricare degli audiolibri gratuiti da alcuni siti, come Librivox e OpenCulture.

Filmati
I filmati rappresentano una fantastica risorsa in quanto permettono di ascoltare l’audio e di vedere il contesto nello stesso tempo.
Potrete trovare fantastici video da ascoltare su Youtube (anche se siamo al corrente del fatto che non in tutti i video è presente un inglese grammaticalmente corretto) e su FluentU. Con FluentU avrete accesso a video musicali, anteprime di film e monologhi interessanti trasformati in lezioni di lingua personalizzate. Potrete cliccare sui sottotitoli interattivi per ottenere definizioni delle parole a voi sconosciute o fare esercizi su schede interattive, in modo da mettere alla prova le vostre capacità di ascolto e di comprensione.

Podcast
Una risorsa utile per praticare l’ascolto in inglese sono i podcast. Potreste scaricare o guardare in streaming episodi individuali riguardanti svariati argomenti con una semplice ricerca su Google.
Potreste anche concentrarvi sugli accenti e i tipi di inglese utilizzati. Ad esempio “You’re Doing It Wrong” è un podcast della BBC che apre una finestra sulla vita di tutti i giorni dei britannici in un modo unico. Invece, “This American Life” racconta storie riguardanti la vita quotidiana in America.
Potrete scaricare o aggiungere ai preferiti i podcast che riterrete di vostro gradimento, per poi utilizzarli come struimenti di studio.
In alternativa, potreste iscrivervi a determinati canali e ascoltare i podcast sul vostro dispositivo mobile. Molti podcast permettono anche di modificare la velocità dell’audio. Se disponete di un iPhone, l’applicazione pre-installata dispone di questa funzione. Gli utenti Android potranno usare Castbox per il medesimo scopo.
